Project Title:

Removing Barriers to Fish Migration in the Dunk River

Project Gallery:

Project Summary:

This project involved the physical restoration of the upper portion of the Dunk River Estuary through the placement of large wing deflectors to narrow and deepened the channel while consolidating sediment, creating diversity and sinuosity in the river channel. In addition, stream restoration work on 9.3 km of stream above the estuary enhanced and opened migratory fish pathways. Ongoing habitat monitoring (in stream temp data loggers and site H2O sampling) will enable BBEMA to gauge ongoing improvements to overall stream health as a result of ongoing project enhancement activities.
