Project Summary:
This project has secured the illustrations for a book on the mammals of the province and adjacent marine waters that is being authored by Rosemary Curley, Dr. Pierre Daoust, Dr. Don McAlpine and Kim Reihl and Dan McAskill. A file with the material was received on Friday evening March 23rd. A non-fiction book without pictures will serve an educational purpose but an illustrated text is more likely to be used. Illustrations will show the reader what the species look like, and for some mammals, how to identify them by their tracks and skulls. Illustrations of 62 mammals including extirpated species, natives, invaders, and introduced species were secured. We have received a letter of agreement from University of Toronto Press specifying the terms and conditions of use. We can add photographs to the book and it may be issued as an e-book if we wish. We will print copies to begin with. We publicized the contribution of our funders including Prince Edward Island Wildlife Conservation Fund by issuing a press release on March 27th 2018.
